Straight A Grant – Rural LDC
(2016 – 2021)
HSTW Ohio Network, in collaboration with Northwestern Local Schools, Battelle Education and the PAST Foundation was awarded a Straight A Grant for a five year Rural Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC) project. The focus of Rural LDC is to increase STEM education opportunities and courses through teacher professional development and a scale-up model to build local leadership capacity to sustain LDC Science, Problem-based Learning, Advanced Careers and other national STEM/science education approaches. Members of the Rural LDC include Black River Local Schools, Hillsdale Local Schools, Loudonville-Perrysville Exempted Village Schools, Mapleton Local Schools and Northwestern Local Schools.
AEOP Grant – Rural STEM Collaborative
(2017 – 2018)
HSTW Ohio Network, in collaboration with Northwestern Local Schools, Black River Local Schools and Mapleton Local Schools, received an Army Education Outreach Program (AEOP) Grant through Battelle for a one-year AEOP project. The focus of the AEOP project is to increase STEM education by engaging 210 underrepresented and underserved students in AEOP programs:
- Junior Solar Sprint, a competitive program for students in grades 5 – 8 to build and race solar cars
- eCybermission, a competitive program for students in grades 6 – 9 to research a local problem and invent a solution.
